read it or else...

UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!!!! i took out my 'precious' book to read today! it's really...UN-UN-UNBELIEVABLE~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ during young times i'm not as hardworking as now ler -.-

i'm still 'hugging' my book now. there're 3 chapters which i need to go through, but that's too many for me coz there're many many many many many many many many many many many small topics in each chapter ~T.T~ but i'm really glad that i'd read 5 topics of the 1st chapter today! wakaka! it's a good achievement for me, OF COZ!!!! ^.^

okay okay! let me recap everything i read just now.
#############################################################
1) What makes great teachers?
- they're caring;
- they're fair;
- they're humour;
- they're communicative;
- they had time for students;
- they respected students as a person;
- they showed personal discipline;
- they enjoyed their work;
- they demontrated persistence;
- they showed tremendous dedication.
( Well... wana be a great teacher isn't an easy work though -.- )
##############################################################
2) How to teach well?
- set goals ler of coz... and the goals must be:
a) realistic
b) specific
c) match our values
d) measurable
- always:
a) visualize the goals in detail
b) read and review the goals daily
( Good planting means good harvest. Good habits develop good results.)
##############################################################
3) What to teach via music?
- facts of life:
a) the value of competition is self-improvement
- we compete to gain and grow in our own skills. if we set 'winning' as the goal, once we've won, we'll no longer need to learn anymore.
b) failure doesn't mean incompetence
- the way to become more proficient at anything is to be willing to fail and continue to work on improvement.
c) inter-communication is a must
- we survive based on our ability to work with others in our personal and professional lives.
d) music is emotion
- music offers a chance to let go and express the rainbow of emotions we all feel, and through this
experience expand our own realm of emotional expression. inner peace comes from knowing
oneself.
d) music is now
- all we really have is the moment.
( Music is an extension of oneself beyond what has to be and into a realm of what can be... deep
huh? -.-)
##############################################################
4) A matter of Excellence
- as a teacher, we must be active in our expectation for our students and in our approach to
each and every day in our teaching profession.
- excellence comes from the individual and is generated through an all-out effort to do one's
best.
- excellence is a process we go through each and every day.
- excellence is a reflection of our expression of life.
( 6,6??? )
#############################################################
5) Exploring the Seven C's to be an excellent teacher
- Competence: not a point of arrival, but an ongoing process.
- Commitment: what needs to be done, when it need to be done, whether we want to do it or
not.
- Communication: skillful communication is the lifeblood of any successful organization.
- Comfidence: is that inner sense of knowing what to do, when to do it, what deserves
attention and what does not, a non-emotional problem-solving logic which
benefits everyone.
- Consideration: judicious application is the key.
- Concentration: it's naive to think that one's projected plan for the day will be fulfilled
without some interruptions or delays. always cognizant of the present
situation and ready to adjust at all times.
- Cooperation: a genuine caring and sharing is always the dominant theme wrapped in an
open-door policy of willingness to help upon request.
